Roslyn, Washington is located just “east of the mountains,” the Cascade Mountain range that is! A scenic 90 minutes from Seattle on I-90 over the beautiful Snoqualmie Pass, takes you into the Pines of Roslyn and the lovely Kittitas County, an authentic Mining town, a company town built around the operations of The Northwestern Improvement Co. A subsidiary of the Northern Pacific Railroad. Roslyn is perhaps the most fascinating community of 1,020 residents in the PNW today. It has a 115-year history that establishes it as an authentic mining center, historic labor battleground and unique ethnic melting pot. In 1979, Roslyn was featured in Stanley Kramers’ movie “ The Runner Stumbles”, and then in 1990 Roslyn became very well known when it was chosen to double as the sleepy little town of “ Cicely, Alaska”, for the quirky CBS television series “Northern Exposure”. Roslyn is widely revered and enjoyed by residents, visitors, and descendants who focus on its rich coal mining history, its’ local charm, and its’ unpretentious community fabric. Roslyn today combines a unique history with a tourist appeal at the entrance to one of the state’s great mountain playgrounds, and is a community working to preserve and display the story of it’s past. Roslyn annually celebrates “Coal Miners Day” over Labor Day weekend and this year marks the 7th year for celebrating Moosedays!

In Loving Memory
Margaret May Phillips
1918 – 2002
Peg of My Heart
Peg of my heart, I love you, right from the start, I loved you, I always know, it would be you, since I heard your lilting laughter, it’s your Irish heart I’m after.
Peg of my Heart, your glances, make my heart say, how’s chances, Come be my own. Come be my home. In my heart. (Adapted by Woodin-Ville Rotary)
Peg brought to life, the fiesty, loveable, wise, harley ridin, grave dancin. General store owner we all came to love as Ruth-Anne Miller. She was everyones confidant’, took “bull” from no one! And if you didn’t have the cash, she’d make you a damn good trade!
Peg has also made numerous television appearances on “ER, “7 th Heaven”, and “Touched by an Angel” to name a few.
In 1998 Peg founded the Woodinville Repertory Theatre in hopes of bringing a bit of culture to the small town of Woodinville, WA...so she said! ;)
Peg also developed a drama program for incarcerated youths, at the Echo Glenn Childrens Center, where the kids participated in drama work- shops.
